Modular Kitchen Cost in Indore: Full Price Guide (2025)

The most common question we get before a free site visit is: “What will my modular kitchen cost?” The honest answer is it depends — but there is a wide range of “it depends” and this guide will help you understand exactly where your kitchen is likely to fall.

Price by Kitchen Layout

The layout is the single biggest cost driver. More linear metres of cabinetry means more material, more hardware, and more labour.

Kitchen LayoutEstimated Price RangeBest For
Straight / One-wall₹1.2 lakh – ₹2.2 lakhSmall flats, compact spaces
L-Shaped₹2 lakh – ₹4 lakhMost standard Indore flats
Parallel / Galley₹2 lakh – ₹3.5 lakhNarrow kitchens with two walls
U-Shaped₹3.5 lakh – ₹6 lakhLarger kitchens, maximum storage
Island Kitchen₹4.5 lakh – ₹8 lakh+Open-plan homes

These are complete kitchen costs including carcass, shutters, hardware, loft units, and countertop sourcing assistance. They do not include civil work (breaking walls, electrical points, plumbing), which is handled separately.

What Drives the Cost Up

1. Kitchen size The most obvious factor. A 7-foot straight kitchen costs roughly half of a 14-foot L-shaped one. We measure your actual kitchen before giving an estimate — layout type alone does not determine cost.

2. Shutter finish The visible face of every cabinet. From lowest to highest cost:

  • High-pressure laminate (HPL) — most common, most durable, wide range of finishes
  • Acrylic (high-gloss) — more expensive, premium look, shows fingerprints
  • PU (Polyurethane) painted finish — smooth, satin or matte, higher cost than HPL
  • Veneer — real wood grain, premium pricing

For most Indore kitchens, laminate gives the best value. The difference between a good laminate and acrylic shutters on a standard L-shaped kitchen can be ₹40,000 to ₹80,000.

3. Hardware brand Hinges and drawer channels are the parts you touch every day. Quality hardware from Hettich, Hafele, or Blum costs more but lasts 10+ years without loosening or squeaking. Local-brand hardware is significantly cheaper but often fails within 2 to 3 years. We recommend Hettich or equivalent on all our kitchens — the cost premium is small relative to the lifespan difference.

4. Internal fittings Tandem boxes (deep internal drawers), pull-out baskets, bottle pullouts, corner carousel units, and magic corners all add cost but significantly increase usability. A kitchen with well-designed internal fittings is far more practical than one with more shutter area but no internal organisation.

5. Countertop material We help source and fit the countertop as part of the project. Granite is the most popular choice in Indore — it is extremely hard, heat-resistant, scratch-resistant, and available locally. Quartz is more uniform in appearance and slightly higher cost. Corian and engineered stone are available at premium pricing. Budget ₹15,000 to ₹40,000 for a standard countertop depending on stone type and kitchen size.

6. Tall units and loft units Tall pantry units and loft units above the counter maximise vertical storage — essential in Indian kitchens where storage is almost always the top complaint. These add to the total cost but are nearly always worth the investment.

What Drives the Cost Down

1. Fewer internal fittings Keeping internals simple — fixed shelves instead of pull-out baskets, standard hinged doors instead of tandem drawers — reduces cost meaningfully. This is the right call if budget is tight, because the carcass quality and hardware brand matter more than fancy internals.

2. Laminate over acrylic or PU Choosing good-quality HPL laminate over acrylic or PU finish shutter saves money without compromising durability. In a working kitchen, a matte or satin laminate is often more practical than a high-gloss finish that shows every fingerprint and steam mark.

3. Straight or L-shaped over U-shaped If your kitchen space allows a straight or L-shaped layout, this will always cost less than a U-shape. We advise on the most practical layout during the site visit.

Materials Breakdown — What You Are Paying For

ComponentMaterial We UseWhy It Matters
Carcass (main body)BWP / BWR PlywoodWaterproof — survives Indore humidity and heat. Lasts 15–20 years.
ShuttersLaminate, Acrylic, or PUVisible face — determines look and durability
Hinges & ChannelsHettich or equivalentDaily use hardware — soft-close, lasts 10+ years
CountertopGranite or QuartzHardest work surface — heat and scratch resistant
Loft backingSame ply as carcassEnsures loft units are as durable as base units

One thing worth emphasising: the carcass material is hidden once the kitchen is installed. There is no visual difference between a BWP plywood carcass and a particle board carcass after installation. But in 5 to 7 years, the difference is dramatic — BWP plywood stays solid while particle board swells, sags, and deteriorates, especially near sinks and appliances. Always ask what the carcass material is.

How to Budget Your Indore Modular Kitchen

Step 1: Know your kitchen size. Measure the length of all walls where you plan to put cabinets. This is the most important input for any estimate.

Step 2: Decide on a layout. We help with this during the site visit — we will suggest the most practical layout for your space and cooking habits.

Step 3: Set a realistic budget range. For a standard Indore 2BHK flat with an L-shaped kitchen, budget ₹2.5 to ₹3.5 lakh for a well-made kitchen with good materials and hardware. Trying to do the same kitchen for ₹1.2 lakh means compromising seriously on either materials, hardware, or warranty.

Step 4: Book a free site visit. Every kitchen estimate requires an in-person visit and measurement. We offer this for free with no obligation anywhere within 7 km of Indore.

What Is Not Included in a Kitchen Quote

To avoid surprises, here is what kitchen contractors typically quote separately:

  • Civil work — breaking tiles, plastering, relocating plumbing or gas points
  • Electrical points — adding plug points inside cabinets or under loft units
  • Chimney and hob — appliances are usually sourced by the client; we can advise on specifications
  • Sink and tap — most clients source these; we can fit them as part of the installation
  • Painting — wall painting after kitchen installation is handled separately

One Final Piece of Advice

Get at least two estimates. A big difference between estimates almost always means one contractor is using inferior material or not including something. Ask specifically: What is the carcass material? What hardware brand? Is a warranty included and in writing?

At VS Furnitures, every estimate includes BWP plywood carcass, quality hardware, a 1-year written warranty, and a free site visit. Contact us or call 9827348796 to book yours. You can also read more about our modular kitchen service for details on layouts and what goes into each build.
